Club News

In recent months our members have been concerned at the lack of fish being caught on the canal at Bardsley, the club are in the process of working closely with the Environment Agency to explore the reasons, checks will be carried out on water quality and fish stocks in the coming months.

The club has applied for a grant with the Angling Trust to assist with planned renovation work to Bardsley canal, work will be ongoing to replace all the pegs and carry out extensive work on the foliage and general plantation along the full length of the water in the coming months, any members wishing to offer their support in the form of work parties would be most welcome.

The club will require assistance with Work parties from the first week of October it is imperative we get support when trying to keep our waters in good order, time, effort and considerable investment is planned over the coming months.

On the 23rd September 2017 the club will be running a charity match in support of Prostate Cancer

Over 46,500 males per year are diagnosed with prostate cancer and while it is not curable it is manageable as long as it is caught in its early stages, sadly so many of us don’t react to getting a check up. club member Dave Green was recently diagnosed with Prostate cancer and after a bout of treatment has the ailments under control, David is very fortunate he had a check up and the symptoms where identified at an early stage.

We intend to raise awareness of this debilitating illness so Dave has booked a match at Partridge lakes on Saturday 23rd September 2017, it will be supported by Prostate Cancer UK, we have also secured a little bit of funding, Andy May has kindly donated half a day’s coaching as a raffle prize, Andy Bennett, and the angling times will also be supporting the event,

Dave and I both feel this should be opened to Limehurst AC Members first and foremost, we have over 40 pegs available on a first come basis, we will require a £10 deposit with your booking and full payment before the event. Via cash cheque or PayPal.

In the first instance could you please let me know if you intend supporting this extremely worthwhile cause the event is open to all members what ever your abilities, its being ran as a fun day with prizes but seriously focused on raising awareness

Your kind support and generosity will be greatly appreciated.
